Golden West Service Freight Cars
Southern Pacific started a rehabilition program for their freight cars in the late 80s and continued into the 90s. For accounting reasons, they sold the cars to other railroads and then placed them on long term lease. Instead of receiving standard SP colors, they wore a bright shade of blue with lettering for Golden West Service. There were a variety of road names for different cars including VCY, CRLE, GVSR and KCS. Sometime in the 2005 time frame, cars started getting relettered back to the original road and number. Now in 2009, it is getting rare to find a non SP, SSW or DRGW lettered ex-Golden West Service freight car. This gallery has been moved to a new website http://www.GoldenWestService.com
